Peek Vision is a group of experienced and highly committed eye care professionals, software developers, hardware engineers, partnerships specialists and leaders in public eye health research.
Peek’s mission is to create tools and health intelligence that radically increase access to eye care worldwide.
Peek has been developed through a collaboration between the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the University of Strathclyde and the Glasgow Centre for Ophthalmic Research.
Peek Vision Ltd, a legal manufacturer of medical devices, creates and distributes Peek products and services. The Company is working towards sustainably delivering high impact eye care. The Peek Vision Foundation, a UK registered charity, owns the Company and profits generated by the Company are gifted to the Foundation. The Foundation uses the funds to build eye care capacity in low and middle-income countries by supporting three primary areas “People, Knowledge and Tools”.
Realising Peek’s full potential
The Consortium is helping to fully realise Peek through extensive development, validation studies and clinical trials and by making widely available, easy to use, low-cost, evidence-based tools to enhance eye care across the Commonwealth and other low- and middle-income settings around the world.
Software apps
Measuring vision is a vital indicator of eye health and general health. Measuring vision helps Peek specialists decide which patients need review, who needs treatment, and also determines the success of the treatment given. There are multiple forms of vision including acuity (central vision), contrast, colour, and visual fields (peripheral vision). We also help understand the test score using vision simulations
Hardware
Peek Retina is a smartphone-based ophthalmoscope that enables retinal imaging using a smartphone. It was developed through a collaboration with the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, the University of Strathclyde and the Glasgow Centre for Ophthalmic Research. It can be used with any smartphone and can be used in any environment from clinical settings to remote rural areas
