Teledermatology is one of the telemedicine applications in the diagnosis and treatment of remote skin diseases, which is called Teledermatology  . Teleermatology  has been a major focus of telemedicine providers for more than a decade. Many reasons, including safety, high diagnostic accuracy compared to face-to-face examination, image-based diagnosis, and relatively low cost of installing the required systems, have led to significant success in telematics .

Teledermatology means providing specialized skin care using information technology and telecommunications, and facilitates communication between patients, nursing staff, and primary care physicians with dermatologists. These days, creating a safe platform for communication between doctors and patients, especially in the field of skin, is very important. There are two main steps in designing and building a system for diagnosing remote skin diseases:

 In the first stage, based on library studies, a questionnaire is designed to assess information needs and determine the required data items and capabilities in the system and is distributed among dermatologists working in specialized dermatology hospitals. Then, the obtained data are analyzed using descriptive statistics and frequency distribution report and using relevant software.

In the second step, based on the previous results, the initial version of the system is designed and created. The capability assessment test is then performed and the final version of the system is designed

 In the meantime, storage and delivery systems require limited and inexpensive technical equipment to run, and can be implemented with a little training from a nurse or referral physician at the place of origin. These types of systems, due to the electronic transmission of images of patient lesions along with clinical history, can be a significant help for dermatologists in providing a rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan for each patient.

For example, people living in nursing homes face serious barriers to specialized skin care services due to mobility limitations, high transportation costs, and specialized counseling.
